anthony leigh dunstan
is a composer and writer. His music is concerned with the interrelationship of words and music. Anthony composes works in diverse settings from solo to opera compositions. His music is performed in Europe, USA and Australasia.
He studied with Mary Finsterer, Michael Smetanin, Richard Ayres and Willem Jeths at Sydney and Amsterdam Conservatoriums respectively under the Sydney University Postgraduate Award.
His focus in opera has included his work De Tweede Mijl: an anti-ego opera which won the judges and audience prize at Yo! Operas “Stand Up Dreaming” opera competition as well as Baba Jaga: a modern fairytale opera, which toured the south of Holland.
Anthony has studied and worked alongside experts in the field such as stage director and dramaturge Javier López Piñón, Opera Forward Festival curator and baritone Anthony Heidweiller and leading operatic composers such as Peter Eötvös and Pascal Dusapin.
As a published writer he researches and interviews international composers and musicians whilst promoting new music within the classical music industry.
