I’m going for a mango
I won’t be back soon.
I’ll be occupied with this mango
until it’s good and gone.
                                 But even then, I might want another;
                                                        Who knows how long that will take.
I’ve been waiting to go
For a long time –
                               There’s no mangoes where you are.
                                                             If there were, I’d stay
                                                                                 You know I would, with you
                                                                                                And eat mangoes all day.
As it were, they’ve been kept elsewhere,
And I must go there, for now, without you.
                              In the meantime don’t look for me
                                                       just let me be –
                                                    I’ll be eating God’s favourite fruit
the mango.
